 PIERPAOLO MANCA
Pierpaolo Manca was born in Cagliari in 1960, at the age of thirteen he started playing the guitar under the musical influence of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder.
In his 20's he took guitar lessons by the guitarist Massimo Ferra who introduced him to his favourites musicians: Jim Hall, Pat Metheny, Bill Evans, Bill Frisell, Miles Davis.
In 1985 he started playing in jazz clubs with his own combos as well as a guest.
In 1987 he majored in music theory at the Conservatorio “G. Pierluigi Da Palestrina”and shortly thereafter joined the “Midnight Mood Quartet” with guitarist Paolo Alfonsi.
In 1996 he moved to Trento where he made his first musical contact with bassist Claudio Kettmeier who introduced him to the local musicians. In 1999 he performed with vibrafonist Saverio Tasca and with Meran and Rovereto's big bands.
With his quartet he played in the international jazz festival of Torbole (Riva del Garda), and in 2003 the Splasch Records published his first album with Claudio Kettmeier on bass, Fiorenzo Zeni on sax and Carlo Canevali on drums.
In november 2004 he played with his quartet and vibraphonist Saverio Tasca at "Itinerari Jazz" the main jazz festival in trentino.
In 2007 Zitto Music produced his second album "Locanda Almayer" with eight compositions inspired by Alessandro Barico's book "Ocean Sea".
